Philosophy of my Practice

My passion for yoga is centered on the philosophy that a robust physical (asana) practice. Combined with the conscious application of the eight limbs of yoga, my practice provides a deep and powerful connection between mind and body. I strive to spread the gift of yoga to others, so all people are provided the opportunity for an improved quality of life based on conscious awareness.

I developed my passion several years ago when I attended an Ashtanga based flow. Although I had practiced occasionally for several years, it was not until my discovery of power-based yoga that my love of yoga truly flourished. Since that time, I have been focused on learning aspects of yogic philosophy, beyond the asana practice.

In my teaching, I utilize a calm and grounded approach to instruction to assist students in staying focused, while utilizing the breath to minimize the chatter of the mind (Citta Vritti). Once grounded, I work with students to ensure movement and breath are connected to further develop postures in a safe and nurturing way. I work with students to achieve their “edge” each time they come to the mat for practice, knowing that each day the body and mind are different. By supporting and encouraging a robust asana practice, students are then better prepared to integrate yoga into all aspects of their lives.

I truly believe the practice of yoga assists each of us in many profound and critical areas of our lives. I’m honored to be able to spread the gift of yoga to all those who seek its many benefits.
